Weather Policies

HOPKINS AYSO WEATHER CANCELLATION POLICY

 

Region 1350 has adopted the following weather cancellation policy for games and practices:

 

  1. Games should be cancelled if a Tornado Watch or Warning is in effect for Allegan County 30 minutes prior to the start of your scheduled game.

 

  1. Games should be cancelled if a Thunderstorm Warning is in effect for Allegan County 30 minutes prior to the start of you scheduled game.

 

Example:  If a tornado watch or warning for Allegan County expires at 9:30 AM and your game start time is 10:00 AM or after, the games will be played.

   

  1. Rain or Snow will not cancel games unless the fields are deemed unsafe by the Regional Commissioner which will be determined in a timely fashion prior to the start of Saturday games.

 

  1. If it starts lightning during a game, play should be stopped immediately and all should seek safety.  It is up to the coaches to reschedule the game or wait out the weather conditions.

 

5.  If you feel weather conditions are unfavorable to play in, then you may contact the other coach prior to the start of your game.  If both parties agree to cancel, then it is up to the coaches to reschedule the game.  (The game needs to be made up at some time.)  If one coach wishes to play and options 1-4 are not an issue, then the game will be played at the scheduled time.  Please try to make every effort to get the game played at the scheduled time.  If it is decided among coaches to cancel last minute and you are not able to reach your players, then it is your responsibility to meet your players at the soccer field to let them know of the change.
